We are so excited to announce the results of YTAC - Houston's Inaugural Golf Classic event, which was sponsored by Academy Sports and Outdoors and took place at Wildcat Golf Club on Monday, October 1st. The golf tournament certainly was a day to remember.  With the voice of Milo Hamilton and the presence of many local celebrities, the tournament was a huge success.  Many of those who attended have promised they will be back next year.

Young Texans Against Cancer presents the Uterine Cancer Research Program at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center with a check for $133,000.

On November 12th, YTAC proudly presented the Uterine Cancer Research Program at M. D. Anderson Cancer Center with a check for $133,000.  This donation is larger than the sum of YTAC's total donations since inception in 2001!!  And what an honor it is to be able to give this money to an organization so worthy of it.

Uterine (endometrial) cancer is the most common gynecologic malignancy and the fourth most common cancer in women. The American Cancer Society estimates that in 2007, 39,080 women, an average of 107 a day, will be diagnosed with uterine cancer in the United States and 7,200 women, an average of 20 women each day, will die from this disease.  Despite being the fourth most common cancer in women, there is very little public awareness about uterine cancer, and research funding has traditionally lagged behind that for other cancers. Uterine cancer is highly curable if caught early. In women with advanced disease, treatment options are limited.  Hopefully our donation will bring us closer to finding more of those treatment options.

We want to thank all of our sponsors, players, and volunteers.  This event would not have been successful without you.  We also want to thank the crew with the Uterine Cancer Research Program at MDA for their support throughout the planning process.  And finally, and most of all, we want to thank YTAC's own Kelly Hunsicker and Matt Gordon for all the time and hard work they and their committee put in to making this tournament such a HUGE SUCCESS!!  We are so proud of where YTAC has come from and where it is going.

Stay tuned for information about next year's tournament!
